With summer's arrival I can't really focus on anything but all the adventuring that will take place. This had me browsing through some old archives of past explorations where I stumbled upon some untouched shots of my first trip to Yosemite in 2014 with my two good buddies Theo and Derek.
I've already published my favorite shots from this trip, which can be checked out here. The following shots can be seen more as leftovers.. But when you're starving (as I am for my next trip) some two day old pizza can really hit the spot, amiright?
My first priority that week was to connect with the land and my two friends. Second was to get some cool material. In order to maximize my time spent in the present moment, I only shot film (Kodak Portra, for those interested). With digital, it's easy to get sucked into the LCD screen and caught up in the technicalities of shooting. As I know I'm susceptible to this, I left my digital at home and armed myself with a 35mm body and a few lenses. I don't regret the choice one bit.
The weekend was filled with switchbacks- both literally and figuratively. Some of the more hilarious moments being trapped on a four mile stretch of a trail that was lined with fresh horse shit, along with being forced to sculpt cooking and eating utensils out of sticks and tinfoil after forgetting to pack any. Nonetheless, I would rate the trip a 10 out of 10- one of the best weeks of my life to date.
Absolutely amped for what's to come.
