Ah man, I’m so stumped with what to write for this one. I wish I had some interesting or insightful words to spew at you, but I don’t. The past week was a struggle for me personally. But on a higher note, my crew and myself have upgraded to a new fishing vessel!
The boat was custom built for us on Prince Edward Island by a company called Provincial. It’s finally made its arrival to Rhode Island this past week- thankfully. I was starting to get dizzy watching my dad pace around the house the house like a kid waiting for Santa Claus. The 45-foot monster should be on the water this coming weekend and we couldn’t be more ready for it.
It’s rather torturous to drive by the new boat on blocks every morning, just to go work on what looks like a toy boat in comparison. But our current boat has been good to us; so good that my dad decided to name his new one the same thing. F/V Johnny B. Named after his father who has long passed. And the craziest thing about this week was the boat arrived in RI on the day of his father’s birthday- by total coincidence. My dad didn’t even realize it until his brother made the connection. Crazy, huh? We’re taking it as a sign that we’ll be catching well aboard him. Counting down the days..
Until next week, stay salty.
